Decidedly Deco Inspired

The Art Deco movement, with its streamlined and geometric shapes, has resonated more than any other period in jewelry over the past century. In 2025, even more designers are drawing inspiration from these trailblazing styles, due to the centennial of the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes, which showcased groundbreaking designs by the leading jewellers of the time. Additionally period films such as Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale (set in 1930) features authentic brooches, tiaras, and other jewels of the era. Influenced by the speed of travel, the machine age, skyscrapers, and Cubism, Art Deco received its name retrospectively in 1966. Today, designers are reinvigorating the “moderne style” with contemporary originality, blending innovative techniques with the linear, circular, and three-dimensional forms first popularized 100 years ago.
