From Runway to Design Studios: The Jewelry That Continues to Trend

The international fall/winter 2025/26 ready-to-wear runway shows mixed nostalgia from different decades with a modern sensibility. The fashion designers mined different time periods, predominately the 50s through the 80s for inspiration, sometimes going back to reinvigorate original designs from those decades. This provided influences for jewelry we saw on the catwalks, which was often in keeping with the themes coming out of the design studios. The most prevalent trends are those which continue to evolve from prior seasons, allowing consumers the opportunity to add pieces that offer both a timely and timeless interpretation in fine jewelry.

Going For the Gold

Although the price of gold is hovering at an all-time high and predictions indicate it might go higher, yellow gold in pieces reminiscent of the 1970s and 80s make a powerful statement. They appear in a range of classifications such as chokers, snake chains, lariats, wide bangles, heavy link chain bracelets, bold gold earrings and necklaces.

Edgy Equestrian

Equestrian themes have been around for centuries and were popular sports and hobby theme in jewelry in Victorian times. Later on in the 20th century, renowned fashion houses such as Gucci and Hermes started giving a nod to horse inspired bits, nails and other objects as part of the brands. These details as well as horseshoes and other elements have continued to be reinterpreted throughout time and are once again trending, but with an edginess and chic appeal.

Fanciful Florals

Botanicals have become a year round theme rather than a seasonal one. From styles rendered in gold with diamond accents to those that are vividly colored with gemstones and enamel. They blossomed on the runway and continue to bloom in the studios of various jewelry designers in brooches, necklaces and earrings.

Personal Pendants

The ready-to-wear runways are traditionally the venue in which jewelry can be over-the-top and they trickle down to wearable interpretations. But this season, the trend to versatile small and medium scale personalized pendants were seen on various catwalks. These include hearts, astrological symbols, small colored gemstones and a host of other symbolic medallions that are in keeping with one of the major trends in fine jewelry.

Charmed I’m Sure

The magic of the meaningful talisman in multiples on a chain or graduated layers is yet another trend that keeps on charming customers. We saw these on the runway in both necklaces and also bracelets and designers continue to create fresh variations that the consumer can add into their mix. These often are part of an ongoing journey of where the wearer has been, where they want to be, and where they are going.

Going In Circles

Although there were many variations of earrings on the international runways this season, ear cuffs, hoops and huggies seemed to be a dominant theme—worn with other earrings or stacked on their own. They are also high up on jewelry designers lists in both white and yellow gold, sculptural, textural and diamond accented incarnations.

Color Forms

From a vibrant to a more subdued palette, color popped on the catwalks in every classification of jewelry and different cuts of gemstones. Vivid greens, variations of coral burnt orange, pinkish to fiery reds all brightened up the runway jewelry and the pieces crafted in design studios.
